The Old Ottoman Castle

Pros: Really very friendly and responsive stuff, one of the best. Sea view and individual entrance to the terrace. The Marmara sea promenade in 5 minutes walk. Good breakfast - every day the same, but containing lots of food products, bread, cheese, sausages, eggs, olives, cucumbers, tomatoes, cheese sticks etc. Nice room on two floors. Fast wifi. Good restaurant. Price/quality ratio is perfect.

Cons: Position is good to walk on foot, tram station is rather far away, about 10 minutes walk, subway in 15 minutes walk. Rather few electric sockets. Rooms on two floors are not really separated, if privacy is needed. Only instant coffee for breakfast.

Pros: The staff were friendly. There was a cozy restaurant attached to the accommodation. Delicious food. Public transportation was easily and quickly accessible.

Cons: The amenities at the accommodation were not satisfactory. I missed having a microwave oven. The bathroom lighting was not perfect either. Water was leaking from the joint under the sink.

We were out all day every day but always made to feel welcome when we arrived back for our evening meals.

An Unforgettable New Year in Istanbul

Pros: we really liked the location of the hotel - in the very center of the old city, colorful, restless, we were able to feel the spirit of real Istanbul, I think. In addition, the atmosphere of the hotel itself - incredibly sincere and hospitable staff - we felt at home. Everything is very simple, but sincere and with soul. We will definitely go to this hotel on our next trip. We celebrated New Year's Eve in the hotel restaurant - it was a very fun party, with lots of food, an international group of guests and great music, both Turkish and international. For reasonable money. We watched the fireworks at midnight from the hotel terrace. I think thanks to this hotel we were completely immersed in the atmosphere of this restless city.

Cons: In the evenings, the hotel restaurant plays live music until midnight, no later. You can hear it in your room. It might bother some people. For us, it only added color and mood, we liked it very much :):)

Pros: Great location and very friendly and helpful staff. Good breakfast and nice facilities. The internet was also good. It was a little bit noisy neighbourhood but that was not a problem. Highly recommended for families and for people who would like to explore the city and not spend too much for accommodation.

Pros: The accommodation allowed our family to check in early, which was really appreciated as we arrived after a long flight and it was raining outside.

Cons: Location isn't very clear that the apartment is right above the restaurant. Checkin is at the restaurant.
