The Astra Hotel

Pros: Perfect location, very close to Sultanahmet area and easy to walk everywhere. I stayed here for the last part of my Istanbul trip and it was a great decision. The hotel is small but very charming, with a cozy and welcoming vibe. It really feels like a home rather than a hotel. The staff were extremely kind and attentive, always doing their best to help. I truly enjoyed my stay and would happily choose this place again.

We felt at home for a week

Pros: We spent a week at this hotel while in Istanbul for work, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The staff were not only incredibly helpful, but also extremely flexible and understanding of our schedule. Since we had to leave very early in the mornings, they kindly assisted us with breakfast arrangements and supported us with every small issue we encountered. We would like to thank everyone personally for their constant support, warmth, and genuine friendliness. They truly made us feel welcome. If you’re looking to stay in a charming, central neighborhood of Istanbul and want to feel at home rather than just like a guest passing through, this is definitely the place to choose. We hope to come back one day—perhaps simply for a holiday next time.

A real gem in one of traditional areas of Istanbul. It has a magical character that really makes your journey memorable.

Pros: The rooftop area and view were mesmerizing. The hotel has a nice authentic atmosphere with the wooden walls and the colorful lamps. The staff is very kind and welcoming and the breakfast was great.

Great place to stay

Pros: We stayed for three nights and had a wonderful experience. The hotel is located in the old part of the city, just a 2-minute walk from the bus stop and very close to the main street, which made the location extremely convenient. The room was small but very cozy and beautifully styled, with everything we needed. Breakfast was great and served on a terrace with a lovely city view. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful. They assisted us with directions to the airport and even provided umbrellas for guests on rainy days. On our last morning, when we had to check out before breakfast time, they kindly prepared sandwiches for us to take on the road, which we truly appreciated. We would definitely stay here again on our next visit to Istanbul.

Perfect place in Istanbul

Cons: Rooms are not soundproof, it's understandable for the old mansion, just be ready to hear everything what is happening around)

Authentic decor, best view from hotel rooftop, friendly hosts and good sizes breakfast.

Pros: We loved the location, it was in an area close to accessable transport and within walking distance to most sights. It is in an area where there are restaurants close by but didn't seem overly touristic. We wanted to have a bit of that inner city feel. We also wanted to find somewhere where the decor was Turkish and not modern; the wooden trims and features aswell as the stone walls was exactly what we were looking for. What made the stay special for us was the host/staff. During breakfast we had a great conversation with a young man about Istanbul and about the hotel itself, which has the best view overlooking Istanbul, to the Galata tower on the otherside of the river.

Cons: We have travelled to a few countries where you cant throw any type of paper into the toilet, it all has to go into the bin.

Nice but humble apartment near the historic centre

Pros: The property has a lovely heritage and has been well-maintained. The location is in a quieter part of the old city, but still easy walking or tram distance

Cons: Comfort could be prioritised more. Basic things like slippers and a full-size duvet would be expected. Some warmer touches could be added to the room, such as the bed throws seen in the hotel photos.
