Gülec Konak Hotel

Pros: The hotel is a small family business, the hosts are very welcoming, the breakfast is rich and varied on a roof terrace with a sea view. Although we had a flight in the evening, we were allowed to leave our luggage and stay on the terrace, then we were given a room until departure. Thank you very much for the hospitality!

Clean and cozy place, in a street with restaurants and bars, right next to the main attractions.

Pros: Breakfast on the rooftop with a nice view was a great experience. The food was good—just don’t expect large portions from a hotel breakfast, but it’s enough to start your day well. The hotel is located in a touristic area, with restaurants and markets trying to draw you in at any cost. We had no issues at the hotel, and the friendly staff allowed us to leave our luggage at the reception after checkout so we could walk around a bit more before our transfer time. It’s generally safe and they do have cameras, but I wouldn’t recommend leaving valuable items, as the reception is not attended nonstop. The room was very clean and tidy, with cozy beds, and everything worked well.

Cons: I’m disappointed with Room 103’s location, as it was at the level of a backyard that smelled of cats and was full of garbage. If you want to open a window to get some fresh air, you might be surprised by a loud AC unit right next to the window, which sounded like a helicopter. The upper floors should be just fine. A piece of advice for the friendly host, Sherif: it would be helpful to add some hangers in the bathroom for clothes, a toilet paper rack, a soap holder, and a small shelf under the mirror. That would make things more convenient and help keep the bathroom tidy. Providing small bottles of shampoo would also be a nice gesture. Apart from that, it’s good value for the money.

Pros: We loved this family hotel - the room was spacious and clean, the staff was very nice, location is great to walk around the old city.

Pros: The staff are very friendly and helpful. Valued of money, best location to visit most of the attractions. Very good transportation from airport to the location, direct bus from the airport and from bus stop to hotel less than 10 minutes walk. In short very good with everything, highly recommended.

We stayed 2 days in a room on the third floor and 2 days in a room on the first floor near the reception. The room on the third floor was very quiet and comfortable. In the room near the reception, there was some noise from the ventilation in the bathroom, which occasionally caused slight discomfort. The price difference between the rooms is small, but the room on the upper floor, especially the one with a sea view, is noticeably better. The staff were very kind and helpful, always available and ready to assist. It was especially nice that they even contacted us to ask if everything was satisfactory. I am leaving my honest review based on our experience. Overall, we were satisfied with our stay. The hotel left a good impression and offers good value for money.

Pros: Very friendly and helpful staff. Always help you out and try to make your stay comfortable. The location is very beautiful. A 5-minute walk from Hagia Sophia Mosque and Blue Mosque. I also liked breakfast.

Cons: Noise. It was difficult to fall asleep or take a nap during the day. As there are several restaurants near the hotel.

Great stay at Gulec Konak hotel.

Pros: As a female solo traveller in Istanbul I enjoyed my stay. I felt absolutely safe! The owner arranged luxury transfer to and from the airport for me. The single room was clean and I found the bed and pillows comfortable. There is a supermarket downstairs with all the little things you may need at reasonable prices. Breakfast was also good for me as it is the things I would usually eat for breakfast. The location of the hotel is great it is walking distance to main attractions and many restaurants on the street of the hotel. Istanbul is one of the best cities I have been to thus far and I loved the attractions, the food and history behind everything. Will be back! Thank you Serif and thank you to your team.

Cons: Just the room space was a bit small and no lifts but as a single person I did not mind this. The bathroom sink cupboard was broken but still functional and they did point this out to me on arrival. It worked fine throughout my stay.
