Topkapi Apartments

Pros: Yusuf was very helpful and considerate. The apartment was immaculately clean. outstanding. the location was superb. The basement apartment is an excellent central and very clean place to stay if one is a single (or couple) traveller on a tight budget.

Good location but can be noisy outside

Pros: We were in Istanbul for the marathon and this property is perfectly located for our purpose. Location - close to the main attractions such as Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, etc. Room / property - spacious, has kitchen that we were able to use to cook dinner one evening as we needed to cook meal before the marathon.

Cons: Location - not the property's control but it can be noisy outside. One night there was a man screaming outside at 1 or 2am. Another night, there were noisy kids late night. These weren't helpful especially when trying to get good night sleep before and after the marathon.

Perfect for exploring the city

Pros: Located in the old city nearby to many sights, shops and restaurants. The apartment is well equipped and comfortable and has the charm of a classic inner city building.

Pros: It was located a short walk from the Hippodrome. This small comfortable apartment was good value for money. With good restaurants and a green grocer very near by, we did not need to use the kitchen, even though it was well equipped. Breakfast on the terrace was a great start to the day. As well, there was a washing machine available.

Pros: The apartment was very clean and in good location. The view from the terrace is great, the nearby sea is visible and of course the sphendone. The owner was very helpful and willing to assist with anything.

Cons: Overall, the apartment condition is good, but the bathroom needs a few improvements. Namely, there is no active ventilation apart from one hole that used to keep a vent, which caused quite some smell if you closed the bathroom door. Also, the toilet seat is bigger than the toilet and needs replacement.

Great apartment with rooftop in a lovely area

Pros: Amazing location = in a lovely street of the old town, nearby the main touristic monuments yet in a quiet area. Great terrace on the roof with a view on the wall of the byzantine Hippodrome and also partly on the sea. Ideal for an apero or breakfast ^^ Yusuf was helpful and responsive. The Family suite was comfortable, the beds good and the airco was discrete and efficient There were cold bottles of water in the fridge for us

Cons: It was really great. Only few details could be improved : - Regarding the curtain separating the room : a part of the rail on which the curtain is suspended is bent, so the curtain cannot reach the end. - Regarding the bathroom : there is a bad smell due to either a plumbing problem or a problem with air circulation; and some parts of the bathroom ceiling are a little dirty and damp.

Comfortable stay in a great location

Pros: Host Yusuf is very friendly and helpful. His communication was excellent and he responded quickly when contacted. The apartments are well located in a quieter area just outside the Blue Mosque precinct. The building, like most in the area, is old but has been renovated outside and retrofitted with modern conveniences inside. It's comfortable but not flashy. Our top floor apartment had many things we value: opening windows (4) providing great air flow; comfortable bed; efficient heating; pleasant neighbourhood views; quiet at night; a shared roof terrace with table and chairs and a view of the Bosphorus; close to restaurants, attractions and transport. The property is spotlessly clean both inside the apartment and in the common areas thanks to the friendly and professional housekeeper. Value for money is excellent.

Cons: Nothing really, we were quite happy with our stay. People with mobility issues should be aware there are stairs, no elevator.

Pros: Topkapi apartments is a two storey building with 4 apartments , one on each floor including one floor below ground level. There is a washing machine in the underground level for all the 4 apartments to use. There is also a terrace with a few airers to dry clothes and one can also sit there and relax. It is very close to the Hippodrome and Blue Mosque, and walking distance to Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, Basilica Cistern, Grand Bazaar and Spice Markets. We stayed in the ground floor (triple room apartment). It was small and compact but had everything that one would need for a comfortable stay.The water pressure and temperature was excellent and one could shower in comfort. The apartment, linen, towels, all were very clean with a cleaner coming nearly every day to empty the bins and do up your room. Very similar to a hotel. The host was there to greet us and explain everything. He was very kind and helpful. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend it.

Perfect apartment in the Centre

Pros: The apartment is really nice, with everything you need and it's really clean. The view from the terrace upstair is wonderful and the position is just perfect, really close to Topkapi, Hagia Sophia, Blue mosque ecc. Yusuf is a so great owner, really kind and helpful.
